Join us for a dynamic session with Carmela Carlyle, a full-time Laughter Yoga Therapist, who will offer an informative, experiential and inspirational introduction to teaching Chair and Wheelchair Laughter Yoga for Older Adults.

Learning objectives:
- Participants will benefit from an informative introductory lecture/overview about working within the differing levels of care offered at residential care facilities for elders.
- Participants will be provided with resources for continued support in their work with older adults.
- Participants will learn and practice seated LY exercises designed to address the psychosocial and physical challenges of many older adults.
There will be no handout for this presentation.

Train with a pro! Carmela Carlyle has a full-time Counseling, Training and Laughter Yoga Therapy practice and is paid to lead dozens of LY Classes for older adults every month. She created the first Chair and Wheelchair LY Club at a retirement community in 2007 that is still going strong. She is dedicated to the work and is ready to share practical tips, support and knowledge to encourage you to join her in creatively bringing joyful Laughter Yoga to our elders.
Join us for this intensive, fast-paced workshop in which you will follow, learn, practice and create Chair and Wheelchair Laughter Yoga exercises designed to meet the needs of most older adults.
More importantly, you will benefit from the experience of a seasoned professional in how to create a context for laughter yoga as an exercise practice for health and well-being. You will learn how manage group dynamics, to create a safe environment and how to keep it fresh, week after week, so that you can effectively engage and attract the largest growing age group in the USA. No rubber chickens. No funny hats. This is about Laughter Yoga for mind, body, emotions and spirit.
You will learn about the aging process, the effects of dementia and the diverse psychosocial, mental and physical challenges affecting older adults. This workshop will also include practical tips for marketing to, and partnering with, eldercare staff at all levels of RCFEs (Residential Care Facilities for Elders)
Carmela’s DVD, Laughter Yoga with Older Adults: an instructional tool for leading joyful chair fitness, will be available to all workshop participants at a discount.
Learning objectives:
- Participants will follow, learn, practice and create Chair Laughter Yoga exercises designed to meet the needs of most older adults. Practical tips will be offered for effectively adapting LY for chair and wheelchair practice.
- Participants will gain knowledge about the aging process, the effects of dementia and the diverse psychosocial, mental and physical challenges affecting many older adults. This knowledge will serve to them in leading appropriately adapted and effective LY sessions.
- Participants will learn, in detail, about the differing levels of care within RCFEs and how to approach and partner with RCFE staff in delivering quality programs. Practical tips for scheduling, marketing and pricing services will be offered.
- Participants will be provided with resources for continued support in their work with older adults.
Carmela Carlyle is a M.A. Clinical Psychology, CLYL and CLYT, Certified Integrative Yoga Therapy Teacher, RYT and Edlercare Specialist.
She maintains a full-time counseling, training and yoga therapy practice. She speaks at professional conferences around the country integrating the healing power of laughter into presentations for healthcare, yoga and business professionals. For years, she trained medical professionals to be Certified Laughter Yoga Leaders at UCSF’s Osher Center for Integrative Medicine and is dedicated to bringing the healing power of laughter to healthcare programs in diverse settings. Carmela has an extensive background as an eldercare specialist including teaching graduate psychology courses in aging and adult life transitions, working with hospice, training RCFE staff, designing dementia care and elders’ activities programs, as well as teaching yoga and laughter yoga at dozens of eldercare residential communities. She offers private Laughter Yoga Therapy sessions with adults of all ages with diverse mental and physical challenges.

5 Good Reasons To Register Early
- Make sure you attend the round table experts session of your choice on Friday and Saturday afternoon. There is a maximum of 25 participants per session.
- Make sure you are on the double-decker bus that will bring laughter, play and celebration in town on Saturday afternoon. Space is limited. First come, first served.
- Need a discount? We will only accept volunteers until August 22nd.
- Need help finding a roommate or a ride to save some money? We’ll do our best to help, but can only help registered conference participants.
